About the role

Dornan Engineering is a long-established mechanical, electrical and HVAC engineering and construction business with substantial project delivery experience across Ireland, Europe and the UK. Its work spans sectors including pharmaceutical, power, waste-to-energy, commercial, data centre and petrochemical.

Because the company continues to expand, it is seeking experienced General Operatives to support exciting projects in Athlone. This is a permanent, site-based opportunity on a pharmaceutical project. You will be part of a driven and ambitious project team in a setting that values initiative, teamwork and contribution.

Role overview

• Permanent role located in Athlone.
• Prior experience on construction, industrial or pharmaceutical sites is required.
• Strong verbal communication and people skills are important for success in the role.

What you will do

• Support tradespeople with day-to-day site tasks.
• Make sure the right materials are available when needed.
• Uncrate equipment and carry out weather protection as required.
• Assist with fabrication activities for pipework.
• Help with the installation of pipework and bracketry.
• Keep work areas clean, organised and safe at all times.
• Carry out general housekeeping duties across the site.
• Move completed items to storage.
• Load and unload incoming deliveries.
• Take on any other reasonable duties assigned by your manager.
• Follow briefings carefully, understand the relevant risk assessments and method statements, and work using safe practices.
• Check equipment before use and maintain a tidy, safe working environment.
• Work efficiently, follow best-practice procedures, and ensure you are signed on to the required permits and briefings before starting any job.

Qualifications

• Safe Pass certification.
• Manual Handling certification.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will already have general operative experience in construction and will be able to work well in a fast-moving, milestone-focused environment. A strong commitment to safety, quality and collaboration is essential.
