Role overview
Monash College is seeking two part-time Laboratory Assistants to support practical science teaching at its Docklands campus in Melbourne. This is an ongoing appointment working at 0.5 FTE, equivalent to 18.25 hours each week. Workdays may change from semester to semester or trimester to trimester depending on class schedules, student numbers, and operational needs.

Compensation
The annual salary range is $86,983.77 to $95,683.91, plus 17% superannuation.
Key responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager and Technicians to keep materials and equipment allocated and available efficiently for both laboratory and teaching activities.
- Partner with laboratory staff and science teachers to support students in using equipment correctly and caring for it properly.
- Keep inventory records current, including labelling, storage, stock control, and ordering.
- Ensure safety equipment is available and that all users have access to the required safety information.
- Maintain equipment in safe working order, including asset records and a plan for servicing and replacement.
About you
To succeed in this role, you should bring a relevant science qualification such as a Diploma of Applied Science, an equivalent qualification, and/or a Certificate IV. You should also have experience in a laboratory setting within an educational environment, a strong background in biology, and the flexibility and capability to support chemistry and physics labs when needed. A good understanding of chemical and biological safety, along with safe work practices aligned to Codes of Practice, is also expected.
