About the role
OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings, is a leading restaurant technology company that helps millions of diners and more than 60,000 restaurant partners connect and thrive. With over 25 years of experience, the company builds tools that let restaurants focus on their people, guests, and business results while helping diners discover and reserve the right table for any occasion.
As part of a global organization, every team member has a direct influence on the company’s direction and delivery. The culture is shaped by hospitality, collaboration, and a strong focus on taking care of others.
OpenTable is hiring a Lead Recruiter for APAC to join the People & Culture team in Melbourne. This position owns hiring strategy and execution for the APAC region, requiring comfort with ambiguity and strong regional recruiting leadership. In a player-coach capacity, you will manage full-cycle hiring while also providing strategic direction across the region. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, values candidate experience, and builds strong relationships across business teams.
Responsibilities
- Run end-to-end hiring for a range of APAC roles, including sourcing, screening, assessment, and candidate recommendation.
- Set and lead the APAC talent acquisition approach while balancing hands-on recruiting with regional leadership.
- Find and engage high-quality passive talent using creative sourcing methods, online databases, networking, and ATS tracking in Greenhouse.
- Represent and strengthen the OpenTable employer brand across the region.
- Partner closely with hiring managers and other stakeholders, acting as a reliable advisor throughout the hiring process.
- Track recruiting metrics, maintain pipeline health, and support future workforce planning needs.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of recruiting experience in a fast-moving environment, with the ability to manage several searches at once.
- Proven experience leading hiring efforts across the APAC region and handling unclear or changing priorities.
- Strong history of being a trusted partner to hiring managers and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to operate as a player-coach, combining day-to-day recruiting with leadership responsibilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills when working with both internal stakeholders and external candidates.
- Prior experience hiring across functions such as Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Engineering is preferred.
- Experience with Greenhouse or a comparable applicant tracking system is preferred.
- Adaptable, flexible, and outcome-focused approach to teamwork and relationship building.
Benefits and perks
- Option to work from almost anywhere for up to 20 days each year.
- Company support for mental health and well-being, including paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth and a paid Headspace subscription.
- An annual company-wide week off to fully recharge.
- Paid parental leave.
- Generous paid vacation, including time off on your birthday.
- Paid volunteer time.
- Career development support through Development Dollars, leadership training, and access to thousands of on-demand learning modules.
- Travel discounts, employee resource groups, and an annual health and wellness reimbursement.
- Monthly social events.
- Free lunch two days per week.
Work model and flexibility
This role follows OpenTable’s hybrid workplace approach, with an expectation of being in the office two days per week. The model is designed to combine in-person collaboration with flexibility.
The team operates across multiple time zones, so while most work will align with standard business hours, there may be times when you need to respond outside regular hours through calls, Slack, or email to coordinate with international colleagues, support restaurant partners, or handle urgent matters. OpenTable will comply with local laws and regulations.
Inclusion and accommodations
OpenTable is committed to building an inclusive workplace where people can belong and do their best work. The company values diverse perspectives and aims to create a team that reflects the variety of diners and restaurants it serves.
If you need support or accommodations during the application process, interview process, or in the role itself, you can contact the recruiter to discuss what you need.
