Job Objective
This role focuses on delivering accurate, efficient, and high-quality support across the publication workflow while strictly following company policies and procedures. The position is centered on creating a smooth and responsive experience for authors, with timely, courteous, and helpful communication. It also involves supporting editors with queries and decision-making throughout the publishing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain strong standards of publication ethics and integrity across journal operations.
- Provide prompt, professional, and friendly service to authors at every stage.
- Assist editors with operational queries and decision-related support.
- Handle the full manuscript journey, from submission through peer review, production, and final processing.
- Ensure manuscripts are processed quickly and accurately.
- Work closely with the Executive Editor, Publishing Manager, and other internal teams to keep workflows moving smoothly.
- Stay informed about developments and trends in the publishing industry and apply that knowledge to journal goals and strategic choices.
Performance Expectations
The role is measured against journal KPIs such as quality, speed to acceptance, author satisfaction, and responding to queries within the agreed timeline.
Skills and Competencies
Strong English communication, accurate typing, a service-oriented approach, excellent time management, flexibility in adapting to process changes, and the ability to manage several priorities while staying detail-focused.
Ideal Background
The preferred candidate will hold a PhD in Life Sciences and bring relevant subject expertise. Experience in publishing, or a clear understanding of peer review in the relevant field, is highly desirable. A solid grasp of research and publication ethics, along with familiarity with the academic research ecosystem and related organizations, will be an advantage.
