PepsiCo is seeking a Quality Control Manager for its Polokwane Bakery in Limpopo. The role is focused on leading food safety and quality activities at the site, making sure products and processes meet internal standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.

What the role involves
- Lead the site food safety and quality agenda and ensure the bakery meets all required metrics.
- Own the rollout and upkeep of the food safety programme, including compliance with PepsiCo food safety requirements and AIB standards.
- Carry out compliance checks, self-inspections, and systems audits across internal processes and external parties that handle company products.
- Address quality-related customer and supplier complaints.
- Serve as the site lead for embedding quality and food safety standards in partnership with the Plant Manager.
- Ensure products consistently meet specifications and consumer standards.
- Make sure the quality and food safety management system is properly established, implemented, and maintained.
- Maintain compliance with quality and food safety requirements.
- Build a strong quality and food safety culture within the factory.
- Report system performance and improvement needs to senior management.
- Plan and manage audits against internal and external standards and use findings to improve performance.
- Promote awareness of customer requirements across the organisation.
- Work with the SC Bakery team to strengthen adherence to food safety standards.
- Drive site-level quality culture initiatives.
- Oversee quality and food safety standards followed by external service providers.
- Investigate consumer complaints and prepare reports.
- Review process and system efficiency and compliance as needed.
- Support team development and organisation.
- Ensure employees are trained on quality management systems, policies, and procedures, and that records are retained to the required standard.
- Manage the reporting team directly.
What you need
- A Degree or National Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- Background in food and beverage manufacturing, ideally within FMCG.
- Comfort using computers and standard workplace systems.
- Knowledge of food safety, quality management, HACCP, VACCP, and TACCP.
- Experience and familiarity with AIB requirements.
- Understanding of GMP, cleaning, and sanitation practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Facilitation and collaboration skills.
- Ability to delegate effectively.
- People leadership capability.
