Senior Frontend Web Developer (React)

Role overview

A stable and expanding business is seeking a Senior Frontend Web Developer on a contract basis to join an experienced team focused on building React-based web applications.

This opportunity is suited to someone who enjoys contributing to large-scale web app projects and collaborating with a strong, supportive team.

What you will bring

• A BSc in Computer Science, BEng in Software Engineering, or a comparable qualification is preferred, though equivalent experience may also be considered.
• At least 6 years of hands-on frontend web development experience, including work with TypeScript and/or JavaScript in a framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience specifically using React.
• Comfort working in an Agile/Scrum environment while building software products.
• Practical experience with microservices-based systems, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery practices.
• Experience with unit testing and a test-oriented approach to development.
• Strong collaboration skills and a genuine interest in solving problems as part of a team.
• Familiarity with modern AI tools and how they can support development workflows.

Location and working arrangement

The role is based in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, and strong remote candidates across New Zealand may also be considered. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Christchurch-based candidates are preferred.
