About the company
Spacetel is a South Australia-based Optus Business Centre and managed IT services provider supporting small and medium businesses across Adelaide. The company delivers cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, unified communications, and business automation services, using technologies such as Microsoft, Zoho, Acronis, WatchGuard, 3CX, and RingCentral.
Role overview
This is a practical, senior engineering position with broad scope. You will be responsible for delivering cloud, network, voice, and security solutions for a portfolio of SMB clients, while also contributing to how AI and automation are introduced into the business.
The work is varied and hands-on. On one day you may be installing a WatchGuard firewall at a customer site, and on another you may be strengthening a Microsoft 365 tenant against phishing attempts. You may also design automation that saves clients time and improves efficiency.
Core focus areas
- Administer Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview, Conditional Access, and cost control.
- Manage network infrastructure such as switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and structured cabling.
- Support voice and unified communications platforms, including 3CX, RingCentral, VoIP migrations, and cloud PBX implementations.
- Develop AI-enabled and automated workflows using Microsoft Copilot and Power Automate.
- Implement security measures including EDR, Essential Eight controls, Zero Trust, MFA rollouts, and incident response.
- Maintain technical documentation such as IT Glue records, network diagrams, SOPs, and client asset information.
What the employer is seeking
The ideal candidate has at least three years of experience in IT support or infrastructure, preferably gained in an MSP environment. Strong hands-on knowledge of Azure and Microsoft 365 administration is important, along with a solid grounding in networking concepts such as firewalls, switching, VLANs, and VPNs.
Experience with VoIP or UCaaS platforms such as 3CX or RingCentral is highly relevant, and confidence with PowerShell scripting is expected. Microsoft certifications including AZ-104, MS-102, or SC-300 would be a strong advantage. The role also requires someone who can communicate clearly with business owners and explain technical matters in a simple, respectful way.
Work arrangement
The position is based in Hindmarsh, Adelaide and is a full-time onsite role with some travel required.
Additional information
This opportunity offers a varied and engaging workload, access to the latest vendor certifications and training, and a flat team structure where ideas are heard. It also provides the chance to help shape an Adelaide MSP’s AI services capability from the beginning.
Application note
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
