About the role
EY is hiring a Manager for its Tax Policy team within the International Tax & Transaction Services (ITTS) practice in Doha. In this position, you will work on sophisticated assignments and help expand the business by advising on tax policy matters that affect governments and policymakers.
The role centers on helping public-sector clients shape practical tax policy solutions. It requires a solid grounding in tax law and policy evaluation, along with the ability to turn policy goals into actionable recommendations.
Key responsibilities
- Guide the development of tax policy by drawing on international best practices and current regulatory developments.
- Assist tax and revenue authorities in putting tax and revenue policies into operation effectively.
- Support government stakeholders in planning and engaging on international tax initiatives.
- Work alongside legal, finance, economics, and public policy specialists to deliver well-rounded solutions.
- Prepare analyses and present recommendations in a clear, persuasive, and structured way.
Skills and attributes
The role calls for someone who can build trusted client relationships and communicate confidently in both written and spoken English. You should be able to recognize risk, perform thorough reviews, and escalate issues appropriately. The ideal candidate is commercially minded, client-oriented, and comfortable working collaboratively across levels. Strong project management, planning, prioritization, deadline management, budget tracking, and practical problem-solving skills are also important.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, tax, or accounting.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in tax.
- Experience in a Big 4 firm is preferred, though applicants from government organizations or international companies may also be considered.
- Good understanding of domestic and international tax rules, as well as how tax authorities operate.
- Ability to manage several projects at once and work effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Strong drafting, writing, and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of technical memoranda and policy papers.
- Experience interacting with tax authorities, regulators, and industry groups is an advantage.
- Exposure to OECD BEPS, Pillar One and Two, and global minimum tax frameworks is desirable.
- Client-facing advisory experience with multinational companies is also preferred.
