About the Role
A professional membership organisation is looking for a proactive and well-organised Training and Development Officer to support its professional development function. This is a home-based position with occasional travel across the UK.
The role sits within a team that delivers a broad range of learning and development activity for members and stakeholders, including online sessions, in-person workshops, mentoring and other professional development initiatives. You will work closely with volunteer trainers, internal colleagues and working groups to help ensure every activity runs smoothly and meets a high standard.
This is a permanent, full-time role of 35 hours per week. The salary is £27,851 plus benefits, including 30 days’ holiday, bank holidays and a pension scheme.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and schedule a yearly programme of online and face-to-face training and development events.
- Identify and arrange suitable venues throughout the UK for training activities.
- Provide administrative and technical assistance for both virtual and in-person sessions.
- Support trainers and presenters before, during and after each event.
- Handle delegate registrations and serve as the main contact for attendee questions.
- Prepare and coordinate promotional materials to support attendance and awareness.
- Keep trainer records up to date and assist with recruiting and onboarding new trainers.
- Help organise trainer development activity and contribute to continuous improvement work.
- Oversee recorded learning content, including publishing and promoting it through digital channels.
- Collect, review and summarise delegate feedback to inform future improvements.
- Support volunteer working groups by arranging meetings, preparing agendas and producing minutes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in organisational systems.
- Contribute to wider professional development projects and organisational initiatives as needed.
Essential Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in event coordination, training delivery, learning support or programme administration.
- Well-developed organisational ability with confidence managing several tasks and deadlines at once.
- High attention to detail and the ability to maintain precise records.
- Excellent customer service and stakeholder management capability.
- Experience working with volunteers, members, trainers or external stakeholders.
- Solid IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, SharePoint and online survey tools.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote setting while staying connected with colleagues.
- Desirable background in a membership organisation, professional body, charity or not-for-profit environment.
- Desirable experience supporting training, learning and development, or professional education programmes.
- Desirable familiarity with event management systems, CRM platforms or learning management systems.
- Desirable experience interpreting feedback and performance data to improve services.
Additional Information
The position involves occasional travel within the UK for events, meetings and stakeholder engagement.
