Role Overview

This position is for a Commis A at Westin Hotels & Resorts in Doha, Qatar. It is a full-time, non-management kitchen role based on site.

Key Duties

The selected candidate will assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks in line with recipes, presentation expectations, and quality guidelines. Work will include preparing ingredients, such as chopping, portioning, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring, and mixing items. The role also covers making cold dishes, using kitchen equipment like ovens, grills, stoves, microwaves, and fryers, and checking whether food is cooked properly.

In addition, the job involves monitoring food quality during preparation, arranging and closing down the workstation, serving food in the correct portions and containers, and cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, equipment, utensils, knives, tables, and related areas. The candidate will also need to verify appliance and food temperatures and help with other duties assigned by supervisors.

Work Standards and Safety

The role requires following company policies as well as health, safety, and security procedures. Any maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions must be reported promptly. The employee must complete required safety training and certifications, maintain a neat uniform and professional appearance, protect confidential information and company property, and communicate clearly and respectfully with team members.

Teamwork and Physical Requirements

The position calls for strong teamwork, a positive attitude, and the ability to support shared goals while responding appropriately to colleagues’ concerns. The work may involve standing, sitting, or walking for long periods or throughout the shift, along with bending, reaching, twisting, pulling, stooping, and lifting or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Preferred Background

Preferred education is a high school diploma or GED equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of related work experience is preferred. No supervisory experience is required, and no license or certification is listed as mandatory.
