Team Overview

The Data & Analytics function, specifically Business Insights & Analytics, brings together data scientists, engineers, and analysts to build data products and tools that help business partners make stronger decisions. The team supports personalization, search, fraud detection, supply chain optimization, demand forecasting, and experimentation initiatives across stores and Target.com.

Role Summary

This position sits within the Digital Analytics and Insights group and focuses on using data, statistics, and visualization to create practical insights for business performance. The analyst will work with large and complex datasets, automate reporting, build scalable dashboards, and turn analysis into clear recommendations that support digital growth and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves working closely with cross-functional partners to understand measurement needs, identify opportunities, and deliver analysis that supports objectives and key results. The analyst will use market-leading tools and analytical methods to build reports, measure performance, evaluate trends, and communicate findings in a way that both technical and business stakeholders can use.

The position also includes data extraction, transformation, consolidation, modeling, and visualization work. A strong emphasis is placed on accuracy, consistency, security, and the ability to translate complex data into understandable stories and actionable business recommendations.

Required Background

Candidates should have a four-year degree or equivalent experience, along with at least 1 year of experience as a data analyst in a quantitative setting or comparable experience. Intermediate SQL ability is required, including writing complex queries. The ideal candidate should bring strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, curiosity about data, and comfort working with large datasets.

Additional expectations include the ability to support conclusions with descriptive statistics, basic inferential statistics, and visual storytelling, as well as confidence in discussing business goals and measurement requirements. Strong communication skills are essential for working with both business and technical teams.

Technical Skills and Tools

Experience with A/B testing, time series analysis, S&OP planning, and forecasting models is important. Familiarity with analytics and data tools such as SQL, Excel, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Python, R, Domo, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, or similar technologies is also relevant. Exposure to advanced analytics, predictive modeling, machine learning, or AI-assisted tools is valued.

Work Arrangement

This role uses a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day arrangement. The work must be performed partly onsite at the assigned Target headquarters location in Minnesota and partly virtually, depending on role and team needs. Work cannot be performed outside the country of the primary work location unless Target has specifically approved it.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $69,800 to $125,700 per year. Pay is determined by several factors, which may include labor market conditions, education, work experience, and certifications.
