Data Scientist

Role overview

This role sits at the intersection of AI research, software engineering, and product delivery. You will collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and external industry stakeholders across the full lifecycle of an AI-enabled product, from early concept and design through prototyping, testing, data preparation, rollout, operational use, market adoption, and eventual retirement.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product, engineering, and industry stakeholders across the entire product lifecycle, including concept, design, prototyping, acceptance testing, data curation, delivery, operationalisation, industry expansion, and end-of-life planning.
• Assess the maturity, practicality, and fit of AI research, technologies, and emerging trends for industry use cases.
• Build and deploy software components using a microservices-oriented architecture.
• Contribute to agile, security-conscious software development practices, including documenting user requirements and software code throughout the development lifecycle.
• Design, implement, and validate algorithms while accounting for transparency, fairness, scalability, security, integration effort, and operating cost.

Requirements

• Educational background in engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field.
• Solid technical grounding in AI.
• Good awareness of current AI research and technologies suitable for production environments.
• Strong programming ability in Python and/or C++.
• Practical experience with tools and libraries for data handling, visualisation, machine learning, and reporting.
• Hands-on experience with at least one deep learning framework such as TensorFlow or Torch.
• Extensive experience with prompt engineering for code-based use cases in OpenAI and Claude.
• Practical exposure to building and deploying AI agents, RAG systems, and vector/graph databases.
• Strong understanding of 3D geometry, vector mathematics, and coordinate systems.
• Experience with mesh manipulation, Boolean operations, and geometric transformation algorithms.
• Proficiency with 3D modelling or CAD tools such as Blender or Rivet, and/or libraries such as OpenGL, CGAL, or Three.js.
• Ability to work well in cross-functional teams with strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with confidence in presentations and stakeholder engagement.
