Electrical Estimator

Role Overview

TRS Staffing Solutions is hiring an Electrical Estimator for an established MEP contractor with opportunities based in Cork or Dublin. This permanent role sits within a growing estimating function and supports the delivery of significant projects across Europe. The position is commercially focused and centered on producing reliable electrical cost estimates and helping secure high-value tender wins.

Key Responsibilities

• Compile tender submissions and gather the information needed before project launch, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Build timely, precise, competitive, and commercially sound estimates from enquiry stage through to final bid submission.
• Track and follow up on tenders after submission.
• Review subcontractor and supplier pricing, including a careful check of what is and is not included.
• Participate in post-tender discussions with clients and support presentation delivery.
• Assist the broader estimating team wherever needed.
• Attend tender review and follow-up meetings as required.
• Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Experience and Required Background

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience as an Electrical Estimator in the engineering, construction, or MEP environment. Prior involvement in hyperscale data centre work across Europe, the UK, or other international markets is preferred. You should be able to plan your workload effectively and understand how to balance team capabilities and gaps.

Strong technical interpretation skills are essential, including the ability to read drawings, specifications, tender packs, and employer requirements with precision. You will also need experience producing detailed take-offs, cost plans, and tender bids for complex electrical systems.

A solid commercial mindset is important, particularly the ability to spot delivery risks, commercial opportunities, and value engineering options. The role also calls for confident communication and stakeholder management when working with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and clients.

Applicants should be highly detail-focused, committed to accuracy, capable of working autonomously, and equally comfortable contributing within a team. A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a similar field is required. Ongoing professional growth and awareness of personal strengths and development areas are also expected.
