Machine Learning Research Intern

About the internship

This is a machine learning research internship for someone who wants to build practical AI systems while also learning from current research. You will work on speech-focused machine learning projects using public datasets, modern ML tooling, and production-minded engineering practices.

The role is designed to give you end-to-end exposure to applied machine learning: reading research papers, preparing data, running experiments, assessing model quality, and creating reusable workflows that support reproducible results.

The internship is especially suitable for students who want hands-on experience in Speech AI, deep learning, Hugging Face, and MLOps.

What you will work on

• Creating reproducible machine learning pipelines with Python and PyTorch.
• Using pretrained speech models available on Hugging Face.
• Finding, examining, and preparing public speech datasets.
• Developing evaluation and benchmarking setups for models.
• Running inference jobs and reviewing model outputs and performance.
• Trying out fine-tuning and transfer learning approaches.
• Studying recent research papers and turning ideas into working implementations.
• Building utilities for experiment tracking, model versioning, and reproducibility.
• Writing technical documentation and sharing findings from experiments.

Tools and technologies you may learn

Python, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, Hugging Face Datasets, Speech AI, Wav2Vec2, Hubert, Whisper, machine learning evaluation methods, experiment tracking tools such as MLflow or Weights & Biases, Docker, Git, and optionally FastAPI and AWS.

Additional information

This internship is a work-from-home opportunity based out of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The stipend is INR 5,000 per month. The internship lasts for 2 months and starts immediately. The application deadline is 31 July 2026 at 11:59 PM.
