Role overview
This role serves as the primary contract management contact for Grid Solutions business support, focused on grid systems integration projects in Pakistan and across the MEA region. The position covers the full OTR project lifecycle, from award through closeout, and may also assist the commercial team during the tendering phase for select complex projects.
The job requires close coordination with project management and collaboration across multiple internal functions and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Examine tender and contract documents, then set up contract management systems, processes, and controls aligned with company standards and recognized best practice.
- Provide tendering and project teams with contract and risk analysis, bid clarifications, and related correspondence support.
- Build understanding across operations and project teams around customer and stakeholder contractual duties and rights, while supporting contracts from project initiation to final closeout.
- Make sure contracts are executed properly and formally closed once all contractual matters are resolved.
- Work with the planning and controls team to ensure project plans are prepared correctly and implemented effectively.
- Drive timely pursuit of extension of time requests, change orders, and claims that are due to the company.
- Support identification, assessment, and management of project risks and opportunities from a contractual standpoint.
- Protect the company’s contractual position by applying strong change management, claims handling, and dispute resolution practices.
- Ensure subcontracts are drafted correctly, using company templates where applicable, and remain consistent with the main contract and company interests.
- Help prepare contracts, subcontracts, agreements, formal notices, memoranda, and other contractual correspondence.
- Oversee project insurance compliance, including submission, tracking, and settlement of insurance claims according to policy requirements.
- Create and maintain project-specific contract management tools, registers, and procedures for tracking events, variation orders, claims, insurances, bonds, warranties, correspondence, and notifications.
- Provide practical guidance to projects on general and specific contractual matters.
- Support dispute-related activities wherever contract management input is needed.
- Join customer and vendor discussions and negotiations on contractual topics alongside project and operations teams.
- Coordinate with related project management functions to exchange contract management data, inputs, and feedback.
- Assist with review of critical tenders when directed by the regional contract management leader.
- Carry out additional contractual, commercial, MIS, or tender-related assignments as requested by the CM leader.
Requirements
- A university degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, or Business Administration.
- At least 10 years of overall work experience, including 5 years of direct experience in contract management for large, complex infrastructure businesses or projects.
- Prior exposure to EPC work and turnkey power or substation projects will be considered an advantage.
- Solid understanding of contract management, claim preparation, and dispute resolution.
- Working knowledge of commercial, business, and contract law.
- Ability to understand technical scope and related obligations.
- Experience preparing extension of time requests, variation orders, claims, and related strategies.
- Proven experience handling demanding contract and claim negotiations.
- Understanding of project risk management, planning, and control.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Influencing ability, intercultural awareness, analytical thinking, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Comfort working in performance-driven, deadline-heavy environments with lean principles.
- Team-oriented mindset and adaptability in a matrix organization.
- Knowledge of Arabic or another regional language would be beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel when required.
