Role Summary

The Tailor will be responsible for handling uniform repairs, hotel linen mending, guest laundry fixes, and related garment maintenance tasks. The position also involves keeping the sewing area organized, maintaining equipment, and ensuring work is completed to the expected standard and on time.

Key Duties

• Repair and mend all staff uniforms, room linen, food and beverage linen, and guest laundry items for the hotel.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship in all repair and sewing tasks.
• Alter or repair guest clothing when requested and ensure items are returned promptly.
• Keep adequate stock of sewing and repair materials.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly work area.
• Clean and service the sewing machine and other equipment regularly.
• Carry out any other related assignments or special tasks given by the supervisor.
• Support the linen room by issuing uniforms to employees as needed.
• When HR issues a uniform request, provide the new employee with the correct uniform and explain the exchange process.
• File uniform request forms properly according to department heading.
• Handle guest laundry items that need minor repairs immediately, including button stitching and seam fixes.
• For lost uniforms, ensure the employee obtains a fresh issue form from HR and that a lost-and-damage report is completed, signed by the employee, and sent to the Executive Housekeeper.
• Report cases of uniform misuse by employees to the Linen & Uniform Room Supervisor.
• At the end of each shift, pass on all necessary information to the next shift so operations continue smoothly.
• Notify the Linen & Uniform Room Supervisor immediately about any damage or defect found in furniture or equipment in the uniform room.
• Inspect garments before laundry to check for missing buttons or torn areas and repair them when required.
• Clean all tools, equipment, and the uniform room storage area after each workday.
• Sort linen, uniforms, and curtains into items to be condemned and items that can be repaired.
• Provide efficient and courteous service to guests at all times.

Qualifications

Candidates should have proof of tailoring ability through relevant service certificates or recommendation letters.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position is required, preferably in a five-star hotel.
