Cloud Architect

Role overview

The Cloud Architect will shape, build, and oversee secure, scalable, and highly available cloud plus hybrid-cloud environments spanning Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and on-premises hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). The position focuses on cloud governance, automation, security controls, and ensuring the architecture supports wider business and technology goals.

Core responsibilities

• Design and deliver multi-cloud solutions on Azure and GCP with attention to performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Build and manage hybrid cloud setups that connect on-premises data centers with public cloud platforms.
• Plan and operate HCI environments using VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and Nutanix NCM/AHV.
• Drive cloud migration, modernization, and transformation programs.
• Implement infrastructure automation through Terraform, Bicep, ARM, and GCP Deployment Manager.
• Create cloud landing zones, network designs, and identity/security integrations.
• Support application and workload deployment across containers and virtual machine-based compute models.
• Design resilient solutions that include high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and failover approaches.
• Run day-to-day cloud operations, monitoring, and incident handling.
• Investigate and resolve advanced issues across compute, networking, and storage in hybrid and multi-cloud setups.
• Review architecture papers, solution diagrams, and technical designs.
• Prepare technical design documentation, governance standards, and presentation materials.
• Guide migration activities involving Azure VMware Solution (AVS) and Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE).

Collaboration and documentation

• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align cloud and hybrid architecture requirements.
• Develop architecture blueprints, cloud policies, and operational runbooks.
• Maintain records related to deployments, changes, governance, and audit readiness.
• Take part in design reviews, technical workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Problem solving and optimization

• Identify architectural gaps and operational issues, then recommend improvements.
• Strengthen cloud governance, resilience, and operational efficiency through continuous optimization.

Experience and technical requirements

• At least 5 years of experience managing Azure Cloud environments.
• At least 3 years of experience managing Google Cloud environments.
• At least 3 years of experience in cloud virtualization and high-availability management.
• Strong command of networking concepts such as VNET/VPC design, routing, subnetting, VPN, ExpressRoute, Interconnect, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Practical expertise in multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architecture.
• Hands-on experience with VMware and Nutanix NCM-based HCI platforms.
• Proficiency in cloud automation and IaC tools including Terraform, ARM, Bicep, and Deployment Manager.
• Solid understanding of cloud security, identity, governance, Zero Trust, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with observability and operations tools such as Azure Monitor, GCP Operations Suite, vRealize, and Nutanix Prism.
• Excellent documentation, design, and communication abilities.
