Data Engineer, Product Analytics (University Grad)

Role overview

As a Data Engineer on the Product Analytics team at Meta, you will help power data work across the company’s family of apps and products, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Reality Labs, and Threads. The role is centered on building and improving large-scale data assets that support product decisions, business strategy, and user experience for billions of users and Meta’s internal workforce.

You will work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to create scalable data solutions, solve complex analytical problems, and improve how data is captured, modeled, secured, and used. The position also calls for strong communication, since you will be expected to translate analysis into clear recommendations and influence partners through data-driven storytelling.

What you'll do

You will manage data warehouse plans for product areas, design logging and data collection approaches, build and launch data models and visualizations, and own production data pipelines and datasets. The work also includes defining service-level expectations, improving data quality and security, supporting existing production processes, and mentoring others on efficient querying and implementation practices.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver data warehouse plans for a product or product set to address clearly defined business questions.
• Work out what data is required for a business need, implement the necessary logging, and partner with data infrastructure teams to investigate and resolve issues.
• Partner with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to uncover data needs and present insights in a useful, meaningful format.
• Apply data controls to protect privacy, strengthen security, ensure compliance, maintain quality, and support operational reliability within assigned areas.
• Design, build, and launch data models and visualizations in production using standard development toolkits.
• Independently develop and deploy data extraction, transformation, and loading workflows, while guiding others toward efficient query practices.
• Maintain existing production processes and improve them with efficient solutions and minimal supervision.
• Set and manage service-level agreements for datasets within your area of ownership.

Minimum qualifications

• Hands-on knowledge of SQL.
• Programming experience in Python.
• Understanding of database systems.
• Ability to obtain work authorization in the country of employment at hire and keep that authorization throughout employment.

Preferred qualifications

• Strong curiosity, self-direction, and an analytical approach to working with data.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience collaborating with people across teams and organizations.
• Ability to use AI tools to improve or redesign workflows and deliver measurable gains in efficiency or quality.
• Experience applying responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality/accuracy reviews.
• Ongoing development of AI skills such as prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration, along with awareness of new AI technologies.

Compensation and benefits

The annual base pay for this role is $99,008 to $139,000. In addition to base salary, the package may include bonus, equity, and benefits. Compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The posted range reflects base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or sales incentives where applicable.
