Role overview

This Finance Analyst position is a technical and analytical role within the Finance team. The successful candidate will own the creation, upkeep, and improvement of financial models used for management insight, forecasting, and statutory reporting. The role also involves specialist work in IFRS accounting, impairment modelling, and hedge accounting, while supporting month-end and year-end cycles and partnering with senior stakeholders and external auditors.

This opportunity is well suited to a graduate who already has demonstrable post-graduation work experience and is looking to strengthen technical finance capability in banking.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Accountant with preparing financial statements and verifying profit for Group entities.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for external auditors on technical and modelling topics.
  • Draft and maintain technical accounting papers.
  • Strengthen and review the control environment around financial models used for monthly and statutory reporting.
  • Investigate updates to IFRS standards and evaluate their effect on the business.
  • Operate and analyse the Stage 3 Property IFRS 9 model, including explanation of major movements and underlying drivers.
  • Build discounted cash flow models for IFRS 9 impairment and support provisions for individually assessed property cases.
  • Develop and run hedge accounting models, produce accounting entries, and support monthly reporting outputs.
  • Prepare and use amortised cost and Effective Interest Rate (EIR) models to determine interest income, fee amortisation, and balances.
  • Monitor and improve core finance models, including amortised cost, EIR, conditional prepayment curves, and hedge accounting.
  • Produce monthly management information for senior review, including analysis and responses to challenge and review comments.
