What This Opportunity Involves

While each project involves unique tasks, contributors may be responsible for designing original material engineering problems that simulate real engineering workflows. This includes creating problems that require Python programming for engineering calculations and simulations, ensuring they are computationally intensive and necessitate numerical methods or iterative solutions. The role also involves developing problems related to system design, optimization, and analysis, basing them on actual research challenges or practical engineering applications. A key part of the role is verifying solutions using Python with standard engineering libraries and clearly documenting problem statements along with providing verified correct answers.

What We Look For

This opportunity is well-suited for material scientists and engineers with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. Ideal candidates will possess a degree in Material Science or a related field, demonstrate Python proficiency for numerical validation, and have at least 2 years of professional experience (applied, research, or teaching). A solid understanding of practical engineering constraints and approximations, along with strong written English skills (C1+), is also essential.

Project Time Expectations

For this specific project, tasks are estimated to require approximately 10-20 hours per week during active phases, depending on project requirements. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload, applicable only while the project is active.

Compensation

Contributors on this project can earn up to an equivalent of $45 per hour, with the actual compensation depending on their skill level and contribution pace. It's important to note that compensation varies across different projects based on their scope, complexity, and the expertise required.
