The Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Process Specialist to join the Gas Processing team within Coke & Iron. This role sits inside BlueScope’s Australian Steel Products business, which supports essential steelmaking activities that supply customers in both local and export markets.

You will provide hands-on operational and technical support to help gas processing activities remain safe, dependable and efficient. The position also contributes to better plant performance, improved systems and processes, and the development of capability within the operations team.

Key duties

• Support a strong safety-led culture and help ensure compliance with HSE obligations and regulatory standards.
• Monitor and guide the safe, efficient operation of gas processing systems and by-products.
• Help deliver business plan commitments and improve operational performance.
• Work with operations, maintenance and other stakeholders to maintain reliable plant performance.
• Lead and support continuous improvement in procedures, systems and process optimisation.

About you

The ideal candidate is an operational coordinator who performs well in a complex industrial setting and combines technical understanding with strong engagement skills.

• A clear commitment to safety and risk control in hazardous environments.
• Background in continuous industrial processing, preferably in gas processing or a similar setting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve plant issues effectively.
• Confidence in coordinating multiple stakeholders and handling competing demands.
• Good communication, organisation and attention to detail.
