Role Overview
As the Assistant Director for Exit Management, you will lead a team and act as the principal Subject Matter Expert (SME) focusing on exit procedures for military regular and defence executive personnel. Your responsibilities encompass overseeing the complete exit lifecycle, including release, resignation, end-of-service terms, discharge, career transitions, and employment-related processes across all services. You will also spearhead ongoing enhancements of HR systems and processes to boost service quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations to ensure efficient execution of all exit management activities.
- Act as the primary SME, offering expert guidance on exit-related matters to Department Heads, Service Personnel Departments, and SAF units.
- Manage and assess system workflows linked to retirement, resignation, end-of-term, discharge, and career transition initiatives.
- Prepare and submit monthly cases for retirement and personnel release approvals.
- Maintain accurate exit administration data for management reports and monitor KPIs.
- Oversee timely payment of release benefits, ensuring exit liabilities and overpayments are correctly routed to payment agencies.
- Serve as the lead contact for exit-related audits and draft responses to audit findings.
- Evaluate, inspire, and develop team members to achieve high performance and organisational excellence.
Challenges
- Balancing a broad range of HR administrative duties while simultaneously improving processes and IT systems without affecting daily functionality.
- Handling a large volume of exit cases with prioritization skills to meet service quality standards.
- Leading mindset shifts and fostering a customer-oriented culture across a varied team while managing diverse stakeholder expectations.
- Communicating diplomatically with Senior Commanders, Department Heads, and inter-agency partners.
- Staying updated on policy changes to respond adeptly to new scenarios and ensure compliance throughout all exit management areas.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational background in Business Administration and Human Resources is preferred.
- A minimum of six years’ experience in human resource management.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in team management and driving organisational performance.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and interpersonal abilities, capable of engaging at all organisational levels.
- Detail-oriented and process-driven with a strong focus on compliance and service excellence.
- Familiarity with HR information systems and collaboration with IT/system stakeholders is an advantage.
