Associate Scientist, Process Development

Position Summary

This role supports Scientists and Senior Scientists by executing projects within specified timelines, contributing to both Formulation Development and Process Development teams. Tasks involve performing predetermined experiments in alignment with study plans, adhering strictly to the company's Quality Management System (QMS).

Responsibilities

• Uphold the company's core values and comply rigorously with SOPs, policies, and QMS protocols.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all information and data.
• Support senior team members in conducting projects per study plans, including preparation and manufacturing of formulations during process development phases, preparing solvent systems, setting up saturated solubility trials, producing and aliquoting formulations for stability studies, and characterising formulations throughout development stages.
• Foster active communication with internal project stakeholders.
• Conduct literature reviews, including equipment operating procedures, and update knowledge through relevant training or webinars.
• Plan and organise personal workload autonomously with consideration of available resources.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and COSHH regulations to protect oneself and colleagues.
• Assist colleagues with weekly tasks as needed.
• Contribute to the smooth functioning of laboratory activities and upkeep of lab standards in line with QMS, including waste disposal and maintaining cleanliness.
• Report any deviations or amendments to SOPs, study plans, manufacturing documentation, or testing protocols to appropriate supervisors.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate training records.
• Ensure data integrity is preserved adhering to ALCOA principles.

• Laboratory personnel across Formulation Development, Process Development, Production, and Analytical teams.
• Department Heads.
• Study Directors.

Education and Experience

A degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong interest in Science and the Pharmaceutical sector.
• Experience and knowledge in Formulation Science, dosage forms, and testing methodologies.
• Exposure to pre-formulation and formulation development processes.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines with a methodical, organized approach.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
• Proficient with IT tools.
• Skilled in multitasking, efficient time management, and prioritisation.
• Open to continuous learning with willingness to undergo necessary training.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly required to lift weights up to 20 kg.
• Extended periods of standing may be required.
• Potential exposure to loud noises and varying temperature conditions.
