About the Role

Sonic Healthcare is establishing a new global leadership role: Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Reporting directly to the Chief Digital, Data and Information Officer, this executive position will develop and oversee the enterprise-wide information security strategy. The CISO will drive the enhancement of security capabilities across Sonic's international operations to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical diagnostic platforms and data. This senior role relies heavily on influence and trust, working collaboratively with security teams and leaders from technology, business, clinical, and functional sectors globally.

Key Responsibilities

Establish, guide, and advance a unified information security strategy, policies, standards, and governance at the group level, representing security matters to executive leadership.
Enhance the security function by aligning diverse security teams into a cohesive global community, expanding operations to include continuous threat monitoring and 24/7 incident response capabilities.
Steer improvements in critical security controls such as identity and access management, network segmentation, encryption, endpoint, email, web security, and vulnerability management across markets.
Support programs ensuring cyber resilience, risk management, and regulatory compliance, including the security of supply chains and third parties.
Integrate security and privacy measures into the design and operation of diagnostic platforms and patient applications to embed protection from the outset.
Provide leadership for security operations, monitoring, detection, and incident response to maintain resilience against cyberattacks and enable swift recovery of diagnostic services.

Required Background and Experience

Demonstrated experience as a senior information security leader (such as CISO, deputy CISO, or Head/VP of Information Security) preferably within large multinational entities.
More than 15 years of advancing roles in technology and information security with comprehensive enterprise security knowledge.
Experience working within federated or decentralized organizations is highly valuable.
Background in healthcare or similarly regulated, data-sensitive sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.

Additional Details and Conditions

Position is based in Sydney; candidates must be willing to relocate if not already residing locally.
International travel will be part of the role requirements.
