Cisco Field Engineer

About the Role

An Australian IT company is looking to engage freelance Cisco Field Engineers based in various locations across New Zealand including Auckland, Wellington, Tokoroa, Taupo, East Tamekia, Rotura, Seaton, Palmerston, and North Shore. The main responsibility involves providing on-site technical support activities coordinated by a remote engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Mount and configure Cisco hardware devices in racks.
• Perform cable patching and facilitate circuit activation.
• Access devices via console on a laptop and follow instructions from remote engineers.
• Conduct tests in collaboration with remote personnel.
• Execute basic router configurations as necessary.
• Manage Cisco routing and switching setup and support.
• Support Unified Communications including IP Telephony and VoIP systems.
• Implement and maintain wireless LAN mobility solutions including controllers and security configurations.
• Handle video conferencing systems, specifically Cisco Telepresence for desktop and small meeting rooms.
• Operate and support smart boards.
• Work with network security appliances such as Cisco, Juniper, and Checkpoint firewalls.

Requirements

• Possession of Cisco CCNA certification is mandatory.

Additional Information

The company is Australian based and prefers candidates within the aforementioned New Zealand regions who can work freelance but on-site as directed during remote interventions.
