Role overview

This position is for a Commis II in the Food and Beverage & Culinary team at Marriott International in Accra, Ghana. The role is a full-time, non-management kitchen position based on site.

What you will do

You will help prepare food items for service by handling basic prep work such as portioning, chopping, storing, washing, and peeling produce. The job also involves weighing and mixing ingredients, cooking dishes to recipe and presentation standards, making cold items, and operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.

You are expected to check food for proper doneness, keep quality under review during preparation, set up and close down the workstation, plate food in the correct portions and containers, and clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, utensils, tools, knives, and equipment. Temperature checks for appliances and food are also part of the role.

Work standards and conduct

The position requires strict adherence to company, safety, and security procedures. Any maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions must be escalated promptly. You will also need to complete required safety training and certifications.

Professional presentation, confidentiality, clear communication, teamwork, and respect for colleagues are all essential. The role also calls for consistent quality standards, strong attention to service expectations, and the ability to remain on your feet or move around for long periods.

Physical tasks may include bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, stooping, and handling items up to 25 pounds without assistance. Supervisors may assign other reasonable duties as needed.
