Cutting Master (Garment Manufacturing)

About the Role

Meli Formals seeks a proficient Cutting Master to oversee the fabric cutting department focusing on both ladies' and men's formal wear garments. This role demands expertise in garment pattern interpretation, precise fabric cutting, and efficient production handling to minimize material wastage while maintaining quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute cutting and preparation of fabric according to specific designs, patterns, and size measurements for both ladies' and men's wear.
• Analyze and correctly interpret garment patterns, size charts, and technical specifications.
• Organize fabric layouts to optimize material use and reduce waste.
• Carry out cutting processes with precision, ensuring correct alignment and minimal fabric loss.
• Inspect fabric quality, detect defects or shrinkage, and manage proper handling prior to cutting.
• Supervise cutting department operations to ensure production schedules are met.
• Liaise with pattern makers, sewing teams, and production supervisors for smooth workflow.
• Oversee bundling, labeling, and handover of cut garment panels to stitching units.
• Maintain detailed cutting logs and monitor fabric consumption rates.
• Provide guidance and direction to cutting assistants and helpers.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Cutting Master within garment manufacturing.
• Experience cutting both women's and men's apparel.
• Strong understanding of formalwear construction, relevant patterning, and sizing.
• Competence in handling various fabric types and garment styles.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
• Ability to consistently meet production deadlines.
