Data Engineer

About the Role

The Data Engineer will be accountable for the continuous maintenance, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Fabric on an enterprise scale. This role focuses on securing access, ensuring compliance, maintaining operational integrity, and supporting enterprise data operations across multiple subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and control user access within Microsoft Fabric using Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Manage access permissions for workspaces, datasets, and reports.
• Create and maintain workspaces, ensuring adherence to proper naming conventions aligned with business unit requirements.
• Implement security policies including data sensitivity labels and encryption settings.
• Ensure organizational compliance with GDPR, SOC 2, and internal regulations.
• Assist in establishing governance frameworks for data lakes and lakehouses.
• Monitor and manage Fabric capacity units (CUs) and system usage metrics.
• Optimize system scalability and performance while allocating resources effectively and troubleshooting issues.
• Maintain platform uptime and availability.
• Develop automation solutions with PowerShell scripts or Fabric Admin APIs for administration and reporting tasks.
• Document workspace configurations, access controls, and operational processes comprehensively.
• Provide technical support and training to end-users.
• Coordinate with IT, data governance, and business teams to support enterprise-wide data initiatives.
• Align Microsoft Fabric configurations with the strategic objectives of the organization.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in IT administration, with at least 2 years dedicated to Microsoft Fabric or Azure-based data platform management.
• Practical experience managing workspaces, user access, and tenant settings within Microsoft Fabric.
• Demonstrated expertise in implementing security and compliance measures within enterprise data environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a closely related field is required.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600) or Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102) are preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Fabric administration including workspace setup, Entra ID integration, and capacity management.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance tools like Microsoft Purview.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting or Fabric Admin APIs for automating administrative and monitoring tasks.
• Understanding of data platform architectures, including data lakes, lakehouses, and governance frameworks.
