About the Role
White Technics invites applications for an Electrical Engineer to join our Melbourne office, contributing to a range of projects including industrial, mining, and infrastructure across Australia. The role involves supporting electrical design tasks, performing power system analyses, conducting compliance checks and site audits, preparing technical documents, and collaborating closely with senior engineers and clients.
This position offers experience across various engineering domains such as power distribution, motor control centres (MCCs), arc flash safety studies, earthing systems, compliance audits, and industrial automation within mining infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and evaluate electrical designs and engineering calculations.
- Develop detailed single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and cable schedules.
- Conduct power system assessments including fault level calculations, protection coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Perform site inspections, audits, and condition evaluations.
- Compile reports and technical documentation related to electrical engineering work.
- Ensure designs meet Australian Standards and client requirements.
- Support project phases from conception through commissioning.
- Assist with preparing engineering scopes, tenders, and technical proposals.
- Engage with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Participate in factory and site acceptance testing and commissioning where necessary.
- Maintain accurate project and engineering records.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Between 2 and 8 years of experience in industrial, mining, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts and power distribution systems.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Competency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Valid Australian driver’s license.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with power system analysis tools such as PowerCad, ETAP, or SKM.
- Knowledge of arc flash assessments and protection coordination.
- Familiarity with mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Experience in electrical compliance audits.
- Understanding of Australian Standards including AS/NZS 3000, AS 3008, AS 2067, and mining electrical regulations.
- AutoCAD electrical drafting skills.
- Exposure to industrial automation systems including PLCs, SCADA, and industrial communication networks.
