Role Overview

The Facility Manager will oversee daily operations at a NEXTDC data centre, guiding a skilled team of facilities experts and managing contractors to ensure the facility’s electrical and mechanical systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position is pivotal to maintaining mission-critical infrastructure that supports high-profile global customers and emerging technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the daily facility operations, including teams, maintenance programs, contractors, and the upkeep of critical infrastructure systems.
• Oversee incident management pertaining to site assets, ensuring accurate reporting and escalation according to company protocols.
• Collaborate closely with Customer Operations, Sales, and Service Delivery to guarantee excellent customer experience and smooth installation processes.
• Enforce Facility Rules to maintain compliance among customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Administer maintenance contracts and service providers, upholding stringent workplace health, safety, and operational standards.
• Promptly identify and resolve facility issues, overseeing necessary testing, documentation, and certification for critical systems.
• Generate operational insights and recommend improvements to enhance technical reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Establish and nurture productive relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop the Facilities team to build an engaged, safety-conscious, and high-performing workforce.
• Support risk mitigation by managing site risk registers and operational controls effectively.
• Promote a culture of security awareness, swiftly managing incidents and applying preventative measures.
• Drive continuous improvement aligned with NEXTDC’s Competency Frameworks through ongoing performance management and development.

Qualifications and Experience

• 4 to 6 years experience in data centre facility management or a similarly critical operational environment.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute standards and critical infrastructure operations.
• Exposure to project management, design, and construction phases, particularly in Design & Build contexts.
• A degree in Engineering, Business, or related field is advantageous.
• Strong consideration given to candidates with Electrical or Mechanical trade qualifications or substantial trade experience.
