Role Overview
Join our dedicated team at Darwalla Group's advanced hatchery facility located in Allora, Queensland, where we specialise in nurturing baby chicks. This permanent full-time role offers comprehensive on-the-job training, perfect for individuals eager to begin a career without prior experience.
Work Schedule and Compensation
- Hourly wage starts at $30.61 AUD
- Work four days per week, each consisting of 9.5-hour shifts starting at 5:30 AM
- The schedule allows for early afternoon finish and three consecutive days off weekly
- Possibility of working additional hours and weekend shifts as required
Job Responsibilities
- Perform tasks such as egg setting, transferring eggs, chick take-off and processing
- Carry out cleaning duties within the hatchery premises
Physical and Health Requirements
- Role requires physical endurance and the ability to stand for extended periods
- Applicants must pass a health screening to ensure suitability for physically demanding work
Biosecurity and Compliance
- Strict adherence to poultry industry biosecurity standards, including restrictions on keeping pet birds, poultry, or pigs
- Employees must not live with individuals involved in poultry or pig farming or hunting
- Compliance with shower-in, shower-out hygiene protocols at the hatchery
Desired Skills and Qualities
- Reliable and hardworking with a positive team-oriented attitude
- Ability to tolerate dusty and noisy environments; safety equipment will be provided
- Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written
- Previous experience in factory, production, or farming sectors is a plus but not mandatory
- Possession of a valid driver's license and own vehicle is necessary due to lack of public transport
- Commitment to a minimum of six months employment and an interest in long-term engagement
