Senior Heritage Specialist

Overview

WSP Middle East is on the lookout for an accomplished and proactive Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Business Development Manager to spearhead the expansion of our heritage services throughout the region. This pivotal role centers on identifying new business opportunities, broadening sector reach, fostering strong client partnerships, and supporting the seamless execution of heritage-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive initiatives to develop business opportunities in archaeology and cultural heritage services across the Middle East.
• Target and secure projects with governmental bodies, tourism authorities, cultural institutions, developers, and infrastructure clients.
• Build and nurture robust client relationships, acting as a principal representative for WSP’s heritage division.
• Broaden and diversify the heritage service portfolio in regional markets, including archaeology, conservation, heritage master planning, and cultural initiatives.
• Contribute to or produce archaeological assessments along with other heritage documentation.
• Engage and coordinate with key stakeholders, curators, regulatory agencies, and clients to facilitate project approvals and successful delivery.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams covering environment, planning, sustainability, and urban development sectors.
• Advocate for integrated heritage services within WSP’s internal teams to maximize impact.
• Ensure that project delivery meets WSP’s technical, safety, and commercial benchmarks with a commitment to quality.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in archaeology and heritage business development tailored to the Middle East context.
• Strong commercial insight with proven success in acquiring contracts within the ME heritage or cultural sectors.
• Track record managing archaeological or heritage projects, including hands-on fieldwork supervision, budget management, and team leadership.
• In-depth knowledge of archaeology and cultural heritage in the ME region, encompassing planning processes, environmental laws, and heritage regulations.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following domains: heritage and planning, master planning and placemaking, conservation and heritage-led regeneration, recreation and cultural development, sustainability and heritage integration, multidisciplinary collaboration, business development, and client management.
• Excellent writing capabilities combined with strong communication and client engagement skills.
• Highly driven, well-organized, and capable of delivering exceptional outputs adhering to deadlines and monetary constraints.
