Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist will act as a proactive and strategic HR partner, delivering hands-on support to managers and employees at multiple Central Coast sites including Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Nipomo, Goleta, and Ventura. This field-focused role ensures that HR solutions align with operational objectives, promotes employee engagement, compliance, and overall organizational effectiveness, and requires frequent travel to various locations to support leadership and workforce relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with site supervisors and managers to align HR approaches with business goals and operational necessities.
- Aid in workforce planning, organizational development, and initiatives to retain talent.
- Provide expert advice on performance management, team relationships, and adherence to HR policies.
- Address and resolve employee relations matters impartially and consistently.
- Conduct investigations when needed and recommend suitable actions.
- Ensure uniform enforcement of company policies and compliance with labor laws at all sites.
- Support integration between HR and safety compliance programs.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and retaining both hourly and salaried staff.
- Coordinate performance evaluations, coaching efforts, and disciplinary processes.
- Identify training requirements and collaborate with the HR team to implement training programs.
- Maintain regular in-person presence at job and plant sites fostering strong ties with field personnel, promoting positive workplace culture and engagement.
- Act as the HR liaison for remote and difficult-to-access sites ensuring effective communication and consistent HR availability.

- Willingness to travel extensively to company sites (up to 60%).
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably as a generalist or similar role.
- Experience in employee relations, recruitment, leave management, performance oversight, and HR operations.
- Background in fast-paced, multi-location environments is desirable.
- HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP are preferred.
- Experience in industries like manufacturing, construction, or transportation is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills considered a plus.
Physical and Travel Demands
- Frequent travel (up to 60%) to diverse company locations including remote plants.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit during site visits for extended periods.
- Capability to navigate active job sites involving uneven ground, stairs, ladders, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments with periodic exposure to noise, dust, and varied weather.
