Role Overview

As an iOS Developer at Alphero, you will engage in the complete product development cycle, spanning initial technical design and architecture through to launch and subsequent enhancements.

Working in an agency environment means encountering diverse projects: you may contribute to established products, help forge new mobile experiences, collaborate on discovery phases with clients, or tackle complex technical challenges alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Collaboration is key, as you will partner closely with designers, strategists, QA experts, and other developers to deliver products that are intuitive, dependable, and user-friendly. While flexible hybrid arrangements exist, the team emphasizes in-person collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality native iOS applications primarily using modern Swift, influencing product architecture, implementation, performance, and maintainability.
• Create polished, accessible, and enjoyable user experiences through close cooperation with designers and testing teams.
• Leverage contemporary engineering practices, including automation and AI-assisted development tools, to enhance development speed while maintaining high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
• Contribute to team knowledge by sharing insights, mentoring colleagues when suitable, staying updated with the Apple ecosystem, and refining software development methodologies.

Candidate Requirements

Ideal candidates will have approximately 4 to 8+ years of professional experience in iOS development and be proficient with various layers of modern mobile applications.

• Strong expertise in Swift and up-to-date iOS development methods.
• Experience with UIKit and/or SwiftUI frameworks.
• Proficient in API integration, networking, and handling authentication with secure data management.
• Knowledgeable in local data persistence, performance tuning, and debugging.
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-organized code.
• Familiarity with AI-driven coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
• Ability to build applications that address security, privacy, and accessibility concerns.

Additional valuable skills include experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines, automated testing, App Store submission processes, cloud services (especially AWS), mobile analytics, monitoring, and cross-platform development frameworks like Kotlin Multiplatform.

Location and Working Conditions

This position is located in New Zealand, requiring presence at offices in either Wellington or Auckland.
