Junior Accountant

Role overview

Cariva UAE is looking for a Junior Accountant to join the finance team in Dubai. The position focuses on supporting daily accounting work so that financial transactions are recorded correctly and on time. The role also involves keeping the general ledger updated, handling receivables and payables, helping prepare financial statements, and assisting senior accountants with month-end and year-end closing tasks. The company is seeking someone who is organized, accurate, and comfortable working with core accounting principles.

General ledger and journal entries

• Record journal entries accurately so that all business transactions are reflected properly in the books.
• Keep accounting databases updated with financial information so records remain current and easy to access.

Accounts receivable

• Maintain receivables records and generate customer invoices promptly.
• Track pending customer balances and follow up when needed.

Accounts payable

• Maintain payables records and handle vendor payment processing.
• Reconcile accounts to confirm accuracy and fix any mismatches.

Financial reporting and statements

• Support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports in line with company and legal accounting standards.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports when required.

Payroll and expense support

• Help review expense records, payroll details, and related supporting documents as needed.

Month-end and year-end support

• Assist senior finance staff with monthly and annual closing activities.
• Contribute to additional accounting assignments and one-off projects as directed.

Qualifications and skills

• A Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Commerce, or MBA is preferred; ACA, ACCA, or CMA certification is an added advantage but not mandatory.
• Applicants should have 2 to 3 years of experience in a Junior Accountant role or a comparable accounting position.
• Strong understanding of accounting concepts and financial reporting practices is required.
• Comfort with numbers, data analysis, and logical reasoning is important.
• Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail are essential.
• Effective communication skills are needed.
• Strong MS Office skills are expected, and experience with accounting systems such as SAP or JDE is a plus.
