Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to join Nexifi and be dedicated full-time to one of our large enterprise clients. You'll play a key hands-on role within the client’s delivery team, focusing on a high-traffic consumer registration and payments platform. This position emphasizes active building and technical leadership rather than advisory responsibilities.

Work Location & Flexibility

The role is flexible with a preference for candidates located in or near Sydney, NSW. However, exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for fully remote arrangements.

Technical Stack & Responsibilities

Utilize technologies including TypeScript, React, Node.js, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, AWS CDK for infrastructure as code, relational databases, and SQL.
Design, develop, and deploy features end-to-end covering frontend, backend, and infrastructure components.
Manage work lifecycle stages encompassing technical exploration, implementation, testing, deployment, and verifying successful release.
Exhibit technical leadership while maintaining hands-on coding responsibilities, assisting engineers with design and implementation decisions.
Create and review comprehensive technical designs crossing services or teams, engaging with relevant stakeholders for feedback.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues on live platforms processing real-user financial transactions, including tracing failures across multiple systems and integrations.
Improve platform health through tasks such as cost optimization, decommissioning unused resources, upgrading dependencies, and noise reduction.
Engage consistently in code reviews as both an author and reviewer to uphold quality standards.
Write and test your own code collaboratively with dedicated QA resources.
Collaborate directly with client product owners, QA engineers, architects, and engineering staff, representing Nexifi with professionalism.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for all system components you influence.

Required Qualifications

Extensive commercial experience in TypeScript across frontend and backend contexts, including Node.js production environments.
Advanced React knowledge covering component architecture, performance tuning, rendering, and complex state management diagnostics.
Proven record of technical leadership combined with active codebase contribution.
Strong relational database expertise involving schema design, query optimization, migrations, and understanding effects under load.
Hands-on experience with AWS production environments focusing on managed services, IAM, security, observability, operational support, and cost controls.
Serverless application development using AWS Lambda and API Gateway with insight into operational and architectural models.
Infrastructure-as-code proficiency with AWS CDK or similar frameworks, capable of performing infrastructure changes safely while managing resources properly.
Experienced in asynchronous and event-driven system design and operations addressing queues, retries, dead-letter queues, idempotency, ordering, duplicate deliveries, and partial consumer failures.
Use of AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Open Code, or Copilot to enhance software delivery processes including code exploration, implementation, testing, refactoring, and documentation, while applying rigorous engineering judgment to ensure quality and security.
