Lead QA Analyst - Clearing Systems

Overview

This role is with NGX, a subsidiary of ICE Group, which offers diverse commodity products across Canada and the US. ICE NGX’s model supports clearing-enabled trading, minimizing counterparty risks, enhancing price discovery, and streamlining back-office processes. As a Lead QA Analyst in Clearing Systems, you will collaborate with users, System and QA Analysts, Developers, and Project Managers to fully understand business, product, and system needs. Your role includes designing and executing test plans and cases, maintaining QA documentation per prevailing standards, coordinating test activities, conducting user training, and offering user support. You will take ownership of specific systems and production releases from a QA perspective in an active, hands-on capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the technology team to develop innovative Clearing Systems such as intraday risk management, delivery handling, and settlement management systems.
• Formulate comprehensive test plans for software releases, detailing test strategy, resource allocation, scope, dependencies, and risk identification for every test cycle.
• Execute advanced QA tasks leveraging solid technical expertise and a thorough grasp of quantitative finance and clearinghouse risk management principles.
• Be the primary contact for all stakeholders regarding assigned systems and functionalities.
• Document, update, and run detailed test cases to validate functionalities, identify defects, and monitor testing progress.
• Test multi-tier architecture systems built on Java and JavaScript frameworks including extJS, JQuery, Oracle APEX, and ReactJS.
• Handle deployment of software releases, manage test environments, and address software or hardware configuration challenges.
• Seek areas for improvement continually and collaborate with teams to define and implement effective solutions.
• Mentor and manage QA Analysts’ projects and support technical and product managers with product requirement assessments.

Qualifications and Expertise

• Deep understanding of Quality Assurance principles and their impact on technology health.
• Robust experience in functional testing with skill in creating detailed test strategies and cases.
• Experience analyzing business and functional requirements to devise appropriate test strategies and cases.
• Involvement in all phases of full-lifecycle development methodologies and quality processes.
• Extensive knowledge of testing methodologies, process analysis, and defect reporting tools.
• Proficiency in both White Box and Black Box Testing approaches.
• Over 7 years of QA experience with increasing responsibilities.
• Preferably 5+ years in commodity markets, financial trading, equity brokerage, or futures markets.
• Understanding of financial markets concepts such as portfolio risk, margin calculations, options pricing, and simulations.
• Capability to interpret financial engineering formulas in spreadsheets and translate them into test plans.
• Advanced SQL skills with at least 5 years writing and running complex queries involving data analysis and calculations.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
• At least 2 years scripting experience in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Quick to learn complex systems and integrations, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and collaborate effectively in team settings.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven punctuality and quality delivery of assignments.
• Excellent organizational aptitude and keen attention to detail.
• Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or equivalents.
