Role Overview and Impact
As Localization Manager for Canada, you will play a critical leadership role in Airbnb’s international growth, particularly throughout the significant post-pandemic travel resurgence. This position requires partnering cross-functionally to align global strategies with local market needs, enhancing user experiences by delivering culturally native content.
You will be the expert guardian of Airbnb’s tone, style, and voice in the Canadian market, managing the localization strategy and quality across platforms, and leading collaboration between internal teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Country, Marketing, Legal, Business Operations, Policy, and Communications leaders to devise strategies aligned with Airbnb's goals for Canada.
- Serve as the linguistic and cultural authority to adapt global product updates and strategies to fit Canadian market nuances.
- Research and identify market expectations to craft language strategies offering an authentic native experience to users in Canada.
- Drive localization of product names and marketing copy, representing Canadian teams and reinforcing Airbnb’s brand internationally.
- Engage with central and local teams to influence product development that meets market demands.
- Lead localization quality improvement efforts and oversee vendor performance to maintain Airbnb’s high standards.
- Coordinate linguistic feedback from users and employees and maintain cultural standards and guidelines.
- Support content copywriting for marketing campaigns and collaborate with Program and QA managers to launch top-quality internationalized products.
Qualifications and Skills
- Over eight years of experience in product localization, with a proven record managing localization strategy and language quality for international launches.
- Fluency in English and native-level proficiency in Canadian French are mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to develop market strategies based on thorough research and data analysis.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience building partnerships across teams and regions.
- Excellent project and stakeholder management capabilities with experience handling diverse teams and time zones.
- Proactive, independent, and strategic approach with a focus on outcomes and accountability.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with experience managing multiple complex priorities.
Work Location and Eligibility
This is a remote-eligible role within Canada, requiring residence in a province where Airbnb Canada, Inc. is registered. Eligible provinces currently include Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, subject to change. Occasional onsite work or offsite meetings may be required as agreed with management.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position in Canada is between 91000 and 107000 CAD; compensation will be influenced by factors including experience, skills, and market conditions. Additional benefits, bonus eligibility, equity, and employee travel credits may also be offered.
