Position Overview and Technical Responsibilities
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of both local and international design standards, codes, and statutory requirements.
- Expertise in design calculations such as water demand, elevator traffic analysis, air conditioning, and equipment selection.
- Review and approve MEP designs, design basis reports, and related documentation ensuring adherence to industry standards, local laws, and project criteria.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, structural engineers, BIM teams, and consultants to integrate MEP systems with the overall design.
- Bring expertise in MEP infrastructure including flood risk analysis, storm water design criteria, sewage treatment plant design, etc.
- Contribute towards development of standard operating procedures relevant to mechanical and plumbing engineering disciplines.
- Provide value engineering insights and suggestions for mechanical design optimization.
- Optimize MEP system designs for energy efficiency, sustainability goals, and cost effectiveness.
- Refine design and material specifications to achieve cost reduction without compromising quality.
- Possess a broad understanding of electrical and ELV systems at a conceptual level.
- Demonstrate strong comprehension of architectural and structural drawings with an emphasis on service coordination.
- Conduct periodic site visits to assess quality and implementation of MEP installations.
- Coordinate efficiently with stakeholders to manage follow-ups and approvals.
- Review and approve drawings and material submissions from consultants and vendors.
- Participate in design and site meetings offering technical resolutions for MEP-related issues.
- Liaise with commercial and procurement teams for inputs on cost, design, and technical discussions during tenders.
- Maintain communication with liaising departments and actively contribute during meetings.
- Perform technical reviews of products proposed for rate contracts.
- Prepare documentation and facilitate submissions to authorities.
- Provide periodic updates to management regarding project deliverables and status.
Managerial Responsibilities
- Exhibit positive leadership to resolve coordination challenges and enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
- Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and work efficiently under pressure.
- Be motivated and focus on meeting deliverables and targets.
- Monitor and control timelines and deliverables involving in-house MEP teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Promote team cohesion and serve as a unifying force within the group.
- Review consultant invoices and variation claims from contractors.
- Manage and allocate resources for internal operations.
- Maintain professional demeanor with a committed and proactive approach.
Skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven capability in team leadership and mentoring.
- Proficiency with MEP design software including AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Team player attitude coupled with adaptability to change.
- Good people management and interpersonal skills.
