Overview

The Manager - Production role involves leadership and oversight of all manufacturing activities at the plant to ensure production is safe, efficient, cost-effective, and meets quality and business targets. The position focuses on optimizing the utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and utilities to drive productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily manufacturing operations to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
Manage workforce, machinery, utilities, and raw materials to enhance operational efficiency.
Track production metrics and implement corrective measures to achieve targets.
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.
Promote a robust safety culture through EHS initiatives, audits, and risk management.
Maintain compliance with certifications such as ISO and GMP.
Enhance productivity while minimizing costs, wastage, and downtime.
Optimize equipment effectiveness, production yield, and resource usage.
Lead, mentor, and develop production staff including supervisors and operators.
Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
Support preventive maintenance, shutdowns, and commissioning of new equipment.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, TPM, 5S, and Kaizen practices.
Monitor KPIs like output, productivity, quality, safety, and cost parameters.
Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, EHS, and R&D teams for seamless plant operations.
Prepare operational reviews and devise improvement plans for senior management.

Required Experience and Qualifications

At least 10 years in Chemical, Adhesives, Specialty Chemicals, Paints, Petrochemical, or Process Manufacturing sectors.
B.E./B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
Proven expertise in production management and leadership in manufacturing contexts.
In-depth knowledge of chemical production processes and process safety protocols.
Familiarity with GMP, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, TPM, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
Experienced in leading production teams and managing human resources effectively.
Skilled in driving productivity gains, lowering manufacturing expenses, and boosting efficiency.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Track record managing safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EHS.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Data-oriented mindset focusing on KPIs such as OEE, yield, safety, and quality metrics.
