Job Summary

The Marine Design Engineer will oversee the development and implementation of sophisticated engineering systems from initial concepts through design and production. The role focuses on delivering products that are competitive, seamlessly integrated, and engineered to the highest standards, prioritizing the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate vessel structural components, interior layouts, deck fittings, machinery setups, and other key features with attention to manufacturability, maintainability, and visual appeal.
• Collaborate closely with naval architects, systems engineers, production teams, and suppliers to create effective, quality-driven design solutions.
• Produce and keep updated all engineering documentation encompassing 3D CAD models, construction and installation drawings, fabrication details, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change records.
• Work jointly with suppliers to select materials and parts, verify proper fit and function, and aid in procurement processes.
• Support prototype construction, manufacturing, commissioning, and after-sales service by addressing design challenges and promoting continuous product enhancements.
• Engage in design review meetings and actively participate in refining Hinckley’s product designs, engineering practices, and development protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

• Between five and ten years of relevant engineering or marine design experience.
• Expertise in Rhino 3D and AutoCAD 2D is mandatory; skills with other 3D CAD tools are an advantage.
• Deep knowledge of mechanical design concepts, manufacturing techniques, and drafting standards.
• Experience or familiarity with marine construction methods, composite materials, or yacht design is desirable.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows OS and Office Suite applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• At minimum, an associate degree or certificate in engineering, marine technology, drafting/design, or related disciplines; a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, marine engineering, naval architecture, or a related field is preferred.
