Role Overview
The Part-time Production Assistant will provide support for the New York local audio content at ESPN, handling editing tasks from diverse audio sources to produce on-air material and managing audio board equipment during live broadcasts. Additionally, there are opportunities to collaborate with the production team on creating live multi-platform content.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit play-by-play highlights, actualities, and audio from ESPN and New York local shows for distribution across ESPN platforms.
- Determine the most impactful audio segments for ESPN NY Audio and other ESPN outlets.
- Maintain strong sports knowledge, especially concerning ESPN NY Audio and broader ESPN programming.
- Catalog all edited audio and share relevant content with production teams for multi-platform use.
- Manage playlists, commercial logs, and promotional mentions for live and multi-platform broadcasts.
- Oversee quality control for on-air products, ensuring compliance with industry broadcasting standards.
- Attend periodic technical training sessions to maintain proficiency.
- Support producers by generating story ideas, researching interview materials, and contributing to show elements.
- Offer creative input for ESPN NY Audio and multi-platform content development.
- Assist the ESPN NY Audio imaging team with promotional and show production tasks.
- Perform duties under close supervision, maintaining accuracy and timely completion according to established guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in commercial production at a network or local radio station.
- Proficient with audio operator boards and knowledgeable about ESPN NY Audio programming.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience at a commercially operated local or network radio facility.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay rate for this position in New York, NY ranges from $22.50 to $30.14. Actual salary may vary based on location, relevant skills, experience, and other factors. Eligible candidates may receive benefits including medical, financial, and additional perks depending on the role and level.
