About the Role

Join the Central Otago District Council as a Pool Crew member, playing an essential role in delivering a secure, clean, and welcoming atmosphere at aquatic sites across Central Otago. You'll contribute to upholding top safety protocols, maintaining pristine facilities, and offering excellent customer service, all while supporting local community health and wellness.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide vigilant lifeguard supervision to guarantee the safety of all pool patrons.
• Offer outstanding customer service to foster a friendly and inviting environment.
• Ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met throughout the pool facilities.
• Conduct routine testing of water quality and perform basic checks of plant room equipment after training.
• Prepare and clear equipment necessary for programs and events.
• Support swim school activities, aquatic programs, and community events as needed.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, delivering first aid when required.
• Collaborate closely with supervisors and the broader aquatics team for smooth daily operations.
• Report to the Pool Supervisor and coordinate effectively with fellow Pool Crew members and council personnel.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Strong communication and customer service skills with a friendly approach.
• Team-oriented with a positive, proactive mindset.
• Dependable, responsible, and capable of maintaining composure in stressful situations.
• Flexible availability, willing to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Detail-focused with pride in sustaining a clean and secure environment.
• Holds a current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate or is open to obtaining one through provided training.
• Possession of a current First Aid Certificate is beneficial, or willingness to acquire one.
• Previous experience in aquatics, recreation, hospitality, or customer service is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Able to swim 200 meters within 6 minutes.
