About the Role
Bayer is looking for a Project Controller to support capital investment and turnaround projects through disciplined scheduling and cost control. The role focuses on keeping project milestones, budgets, and reporting on track while helping project leadership make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Track project milestones, schedules, and budgets using scheduling and cost-control methods.
- Create and keep an up-to-date project schedule along with progress monitoring.
- Build and manage structured cost control, including cash outflow planning.
- Prepare dependable forecasts and assist the Project Manager in guiding the project.
- Share possible actions and their implications with project leadership.
- Oversee external project controllers.
- Prepare project reporting in line with Bayer accounting requirements.
Working Relationships
- Reports internally to the Project/Program Manager.
- Coordinates with Engineering Manager, Construction Manager, Discipline Leads, Procurement, Materials Management, Project Controlling Team, and Enterprise Accounting.
- Works externally with engineering and construction contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and local and central authorities.
Candidate Profile
The position calls for a graduate or post-graduate engineer with 8 to 10 years of experience, ideally in investment or turnaround projects within the chemical sector, especially agrochemicals. The ideal candidate should understand project controlling tools, monitor schedules and costs closely, and support project control procedures with engineering discipline leads and task-force groups.
Experience in project oversight, value improvement practices, project support services, cost estimating, scheduling, best-practice solutions, claim analysis, procurement, benchmarking, and reporting project health is important. Strong knowledge of risk management, including review of risk registers and mitigation plans, is also expected. Good communication, customer focus, and the ability to handle ambiguity and conflict are essential.
