Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assist projects related to the development, assembly, and deployment of oil and gas surface installations.
- Study and analyze P&IDs, engineering schematics, and specifications to verify appropriate equipment selection and successful system integration.
- Perform wellsite surveys before implementing projects to evaluate site conditions, check infrastructure readiness, identify challenges, and coordinate with clients, suppliers, and on-site personnel for smooth equipment installation and operation.
- Collaborate with vendors, fabricators, and installation teams to ensure adherence to project specifications, industry norms, and safety regulations.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams—design engineers, procurement, and field service—to optimize project execution.
- Ensure all systems and equipment comply with local laws, international standards (API, ASME, ISO), and ARAMCO rules where applicable.
- Identify and mitigate project risks to avoid delays and budget overruns.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, prepare technical reports, and provide frequent updates to management and stakeholders.
- Engage with customers to guarantee safe, efficient field operations.
- Offer technical guidance to internal engineers for designing interface equipment when off-the-shelf options are unavailable.
- Ensure third-party equipment meets specified requirements for safe and effective operation.
- Estimate and control project costs throughout the execution phase.
- Take part in risk assessments prior to field activities.
- Oversee third-party Quality Assurance and Quality Control for project equipment.
- Often operate independently, supervising third-party service personnel.
- Document all non-conformances and downtime, reporting them to relevant parties.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all activities and capture lessons learned to benefit future projects.
- Provide technical feedback to improve safety and performance of technologies used.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies and government regulations.
- Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver projects effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of experience in onshore/offshore completions, production, or workover operations.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, and engineering documents.
- Experience with design, selection, and integration of surface production equipment.
- Knowledge of fabrication and installation techniques, including welding, material choice, and testing.
- Experience working with customers and third-party suppliers.
- Possession of PMP or equivalent industry certifications.
- Minimum 2 years of project management or coordination experience.
- Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Bonus qualifications: intelligent completion system integration, extensive understanding of well interventions (slickline, e-line, pumping, coiled tubing), DST/TCP, surface testing, ESP and completion equipment design, IADC WellSharp or IWCF certification, experience with intervention campaigns and system integration testing.
Personal Attributes
- Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently and committed to delivering quality outputs.
- Adaptable and resilient in fast-changing project environments.
- Effective communicator of complex technical information to varied audiences.
- Strong collaborator fostering positive relations with clients, vendors, and peers.
Physical and Work Environment
This role combines office responsibilities with field visits to fabrication yards, vendor sites, and client wellsites. It involves prolonged sitting, standing, and walking. The engineer must be capable of lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs) and working safely in confined or elevated spaces while wearing required personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots). Fieldwork may involve exposure to various temperatures, humidity, noise, dust, fumes, and high-pressure equipment, requiring strict compliance with safety standards. Travel to client, vendor, or offshore locations may be necessary depending on project demands.
