Their premier project, the 40 MWp Taranaki Solar Farm, is a major addition to regional renewable infrastructure, providing clean electricity to thousands of homes and businesses across New Zealand.

About the Project

The Taranaki Solar Farm represents a utility-scale, 40 MWp photovoltaic development entailing civil construction, PV system installation, medium and high voltage infrastructure, substation building, and grid connection activities. Project execution and documentation are managed using Procore as the primary construction management software.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will assist throughout the project stages from construction start to commissioning and energisation. The position involves engineering coordination, document management, contract administration support, consultant liaison, construction directives, technical correspondence, and project controls. This is an initial fixed-term contract for 12 months with possibilities for extension as Ranui Generation grows.

  • Maintain project document control via Procore platform.
  • Coordinate effectively between consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support construction contract administration including construction instructions.
  • Track schedule progress, identify risks, and monitor delays.
  • Assist commissioning, testing, and energisation operations.
  • Keep comprehensive project records, technical correspondence, and decision logs.
  • Facilitate quality assurance processes, manage non-conformance reports closure, and compile project handover documentation.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Between 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction, site, or project engineering roles.
  • Exposure to high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) electrical infrastructure, substations, renewable energy, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing RFIs, technical submittals, and document workflows.
  • Proficient use of Procore or similar construction management software for 3 to 5 years.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Authorization to work in New Zealand.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind energy, or electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of contract administration, construction instructions, variation control, and consultant coordination.
  • Familiarity with New Zealand electrical standards and WorkSafe regulations.
  • Background in owner-side, principal contractor, or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) delivery environments.
  • Progress toward or full Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary range from NZD 95,000 to 120,000, based on experience.
  • Vehicle allowance or company vehicle negotiable within remuneration package.
  • Coverage of project-related travel and accommodation expenses.
  • Opportunity to contribute to further renewable energy projects as the company’s portfolio expands.
