Role Overview

Seeking an Environmental Design Engineer or Project Manager to spearhead hydraulic design efforts for complex water resource projects within the New York metropolitan region. The position supports the entire project lifecycle from initiation to completion, emphasizing technical leadership and client collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for hydraulic and water resource projects, managing project execution and client interfaces.
• Conduct hydraulic design calculations and produce engineering deliverables for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
• Create, interpret, and analyze hydraulic and hydrologic models using tools such as InfoWater, SWMM, PCSWMM, and HEC-RAS.
• Oversee design on complex infrastructure projects ensuring alignment with objectives, regulatory standards, timelines, and budgets.
• Liaise and coordinate with municipalities, utilities, regulatory authorities, and internal engineering teams.
• Handle project scope, scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting, and billing coordination at the Project Manager level.
• Engage in technical design activities while receiving mentorship on client management responsibilities for the Project Engineer track.
• Conduct field visits as necessary to gather data, verify conditions, and aid documentation via mobile technology.
• Prepare technical engineering reports, calculations, memos, and construction support materials.
• Collaborate across disciplines to develop innovative, cost-efficient engineering solutions.
• Ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, and engineering standards throughout project delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Design Engineer path requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience; Project Manager path expects over 8 years in water resources, wastewater, or civil infrastructure engineering.
• Proficient with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software: InfoWater, SWMM/PCSWMM, HEC-RAS.
• Hands-on experience designing water, wastewater, stormwater, or hydraulic infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations, coastal and waterfront permitting requirements, and federal/state agency processes.
• Working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam; experience with OpenFlows/Bentley products is an advantage.
• Project Manager applicants must hold an active Professional Engineer (PE) license; Design Engineers should be eligible for licensure within one year.
• Residency in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area required; comfortable with hybrid work arrangements and occasional local travel.
