Purchasing Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Purchasing Specialist to join our collaborative procurement team based in Henderson, Western Australia. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to work within an organization providing essential national capabilities.

Role Description

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will execute operational procurement tasks to keep projects progressing smoothly. You'll support sourcing strategies and contract management initiatives while collaborating closely with experienced professionals.

Your responsibilities include managing day-to-day purchasing transactions through our ERP system, contributing to market research, supplier evaluations, and preparing procurement-related documentation. Accurate reporting and contract tracking are vital facets of this role, ensuring all procurement activities adhere to company standards and governance policies.

You will interact with internal stakeholders including project managers, quality assurance, commercial departments, and trade controls teams, resolving routine supplier issues as needed. Additionally, there's room to enhance procurement processes by improving tools and templates.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be an Australian citizen capable of obtaining Defence Security Clearance.
• Possess relevant academic qualifications in fields such as Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Commerce, Logistics, or Operations Management, or demonstrate equivalent experience.
• Experience in procurement, particularly within project-driven or operationally complex settings.
• Proven ability to conduct sourcing efforts such as RFQ, RFI, and RFT exercises, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier partnerships.
• Knowledge of Category Management, Supplier Relationship Management, and Supplier Performance Management frameworks.
• Experience supporting contract development, negotiation, lifecycle management, with an emphasis on risk identification and mitigation.
• Strong skills in stakeholder engagement with an ability to collaborate across procurement, operations, and commercial functions.
