Position Overview
The Quantity Surveyor position is a full-time role based in Tramore, County Waterford, Ireland, featuring a hybrid work model that offers flexibility to work from home some of the time. The primary responsibility is managing project budgets from initial feasibility assessment through to the final accounts. This includes preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), monitoring expenditures, forecasting costs, and supporting tender processes. The role entails close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to maintain stringent financial controls and accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee cost management and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create and analyze bills of quantities and other tender documents.
- Monitor budget status regularly and provide forecasts and financial updates.
- Review contracts, manage contract variations, and evaluate claims.
- Advise stakeholders clearly and promptly on cost-related matters.
- Maintain strong client relationships and ensure projects remain within budget while meeting quality and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field.
- Experience working on construction or engineering projects, preferably in high-tech or specialized sectors.
- Proficient in cost planning, cost reporting, and budget management.
- Ability to interpret and prepare Bills of Quantities and tender documentation.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills comfortable engaging with clients and teams.
- Capacity to work efficiently in a hybrid work environment, splitting time between onsite (Tramore) and remote locations.
- Familiarity with estimating and cost management software is preferred.
