Position Overview
Working as a Self-Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada provides an excellent opportunity to improve your capabilities within the retail sector. This role primarily focuses on delivering outstanding customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience while helping customers navigate transactions in the self-service checkout zones.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe self-checkout area, free from clutter, debris, or spills.
- Offer guidance to customers on how to effectively utilize self-service checkout systems when needed.
- Actively promote affiliated company programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives.
- Monitor customer interactions to identify if assistance is required during the self-checkout process.
- Politely communicate reasons for any interventions or quality checks, reassuring customers that these procedures are standard protocol for self-service checkout usage.
- Have a thorough understanding of procedures for responding to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms and accurately complete the "Failure to Deactivate" log when applicable.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager promptly when the self-checkout area experiences low cash levels or technical difficulties.
- Ensure Scan & Go devices are returned to their designated storage area after use.
Salary
The starting hourly wage for this position is $17.75.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 16 years of age or older.
